Rant: Exams

What’s the point of doing exams in Year 7-9 ?!

I feel sorry for them because they have to go through all the stress of exams real early. I mean, Year 10 exams are fine, getting ready for VCE Exam stress, etc. But seriously, Year 7 exams?! I sometimes wonder what questions would be on it!

When I was in a maths class in Year 7, I got taught questions like, ‘Whats 2 / 4’ etc. And exams questions would be 'Whats 2+2’?

And why can’t be exams be online? It’s good for the environment, and really reliable. I mean, our school blocks almost every single site in the universe, so why worry about cheating?! Seriously?!

We’re finished!

Finally, after 5 whole hours of coding, trial and error, photoshopping, eating ice-cream, we’ve finally finished and released our new blog layout!

This time, it’s all my work (for once, lol) and it is compatible with all modern browsers.. except Internet Explorer - which I’ve set a redirect to download a new, better browser. But seriously, Internet Explorers can’t even read this post from my website, unless they’re on the Tumblr website!

Anyway, what inspired me to make this blog layout is Windows Phone 7. It’s simplicity, the font, the animation. It just inspired me to make a blog design, about it. And so I did.

The layout is jampacked with it’s entry level release, with all the links you saw with the old layout, plus lots of animation and huge text.

So, what do you think about it? Good or bad?

Excuse the English, it’s 11:33pm and it’s past my bedtime, LOLJK.

UPDATE: More updates are coming soon tomorrow morning and afternoon, with some fixes, especially with paragraphs in blog posts!

UPDATE: Opera users may experience some design problems, as well. But the site is still useable and viewable, I guess.

Well, since I haven’t played around with my nephew for a while…

Rant: Windows Live Messenger 2011

Why can’t we set our own display names?

Seriously, I like WLM 2011, except the limitation that you can’t set your own display name - you actually have to show your real name!

It’s not like I’m trying to mask myself behind the internet, but I'lld rather be called ‘hieuiee.’ than ‘Hieu’.

Anyway, exams soon, gotta go! Bye!

Rant: Asian Parents

Today, as soon as I got home, my dad’s like; before you go to work, study for the exams.

For heck’s sake! I’m on the verge of dying of hunger here, and you’re expecting me to study! I just lived through 6, whole, hours of school and you want me to study?!

When my mum found out that I was going to work today, she was like, ‘I told you to take a break from work! Why are you still working?!'

Well, my answer was, 'You told me last Friday to take a break from work. I can’t give them this short notice to take up annual leave! Tell me earlier!’.

Then after that, my parents give me a lecture on how study is more important than money, and how they fork out $4,000 on my school fees, and etc.

Heck, I’ve probably heard this 1,000,000 times! If study is more important than money, WHY THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MONEY IN MY FACE?!

Thank God I’m working tonight, it’ll save me from hearing my parents telling me to study for 5 whole hours. It just pisses me off.

This is why I don’t tell my parents when exams are until the absolute last minute. It happens every semester, and it will for the next 2 years, fuck my life.

Fark my life..

Yep, it’s about the iPad again, and this is final.

Me and my friend have come to a conclusion, we even shaked hands on it. It’s actually a better deal - for him, actually.

He’s gonna give me an iPad 64GB WiFi + 3G, Apple iPad Keyboard Dock and a case all for $900. But there’s a catch. I (unfortunately) am not able to raise $900 in the next week, so we’ve reached a deal. I will pay $800 for all three mentioned above, get them on that day, and pay him $150 the next week - totalling $950. Fair enough, I do need to pay some extra money for making him wait another week.

So that’s final. $800 in the first week, then $150 in the week after.

But you may be wondering, why are we trying to raise $870? Well, as you may have noticed, there’s a Telstra Micro SIM, and a Apple iPad dock included in the list on the left. They both cost $70 all together, so I’ve added $70 into that $800.

Now, you’re all probably wondering, ‘Why do you need a iPad dock when you’re already getting the keyboard dock?’. Well, the iPad dock will be placed in my bedroom - where it will be charging, and the keyboard dock will be at my computer desk - where I will sync and charge on my computer.

NOW, you’re all probably wondering, ‘Why can’t you give your friend $900 in the first week when you’re already spending $870?’. Hrm, good question, mainly because I need the SIM and the dock more? I’ll think of something during this week. I might borrow some money off my (wonderful) sister, or ask you wonderful people to donate!

The Good & the Bad

First things first, my parents have basically ‘grounded’ me from working for the next 2 weeks because I need to study for exams. Like that’s gonna happen! I didn’t even take out annual leave! Oh well, I’ll tell my manager to limit my shifts for the next two weeks.

In result of this, I’ve decided to change my mind again, (Yes, I can hear you screaming from here) and instead of taking up the $900 iPad deal my friend has given me, I’m going back to the 16GB iPad. Which means, we’ll actually have an actual unboxing, and a decent live stream!

Also, the unboxing date is now confirmed, locked in, and hopefully it will stay that way. And the date that’s it always has been. 17th November 2010 at 5pm AEDT. A dedicated website will be up soon!

Okay, that was the bad(ish) news, and here comes the good news. I won my away game in squash in 5 sets! I was so happy, but my legs aren’t. They’re killing me right now, they’re probably telling me, ’Oh, just you wait! I’m gonna give you hell tomorrow!’. Not looking forward to that.

Being rebel is not always fun.

Yep, I’m on the cheap laptops that I got last month, free from my school, and get ready to see some minor spellling mistakes or grammar problems.

Okay, well, I’m at school (seriously), and I’m being rebel, and I’m on Tumblr blogging.

Of course, when I’m this bored, I’m in Science Physical. And time still goes slow, when I use my owm internet and when I have access to every single site ever. Probably because I’m limiting my usage on the internet, and listening to the teacher at the same time. And the teacher, drags the theory, baaaadddd.

Well, gotta go, my friend next to me is spying on what I’m typing, and he’s like ’WHAT’S TUMBLR’… And I’m like, ’Uhh, *quits tab*’.

So yeah, there’s half an hour left of this period, and hopefully, it goes super fast. THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!

Wait, what?

I went to school today, it was awesome. That’s all.

But really, it was awesome. Someone offered me their iPad (don’t wanna mention any names here!) for $900 Australian dollars. No, it’s not the 16GB iPad WiFi + 3G that I was hoping to get, but it’s the 64GB iPad WiFi + 3G. He also chucked in a keyboard dock and those Apple cases.

Okay, now I need to think about this. Should I get an extra… let me count here… 48GB of space on the iPad for an extra $141 (Yeah, one dollar)?

Yeah? Sounds like a good deal? Deal.

Now, don’t come and tell me that it’s a ‘too good to be true’ deal, because it’s real. I’ve seen him with the iPad, I’ve seen him with the case and the keyboard, etc.

What kinda concerns and disappoints me most is that, there’s not as fun unboxing a new iPad, than a second-hand iPad!

So, now plans have changed yet again. And hopefully he does give me the box that comes with it. And I’ve decided to unbox the second-hand iPad live. Of course, there’s no fun in this, but who would put down this kind of deal! I’m saving at least $200 dollars here!

Unboxing date stays the same, the goal is up from $759 to $900, storage is up from 16GB to 64GB, and the rest is the same, I guess.

Get ready!

Okay, I admit it…

I haven’t been posting lately. Well, I have. But then I delete the post like, 2 seconds later. Yeah, I know, what a waste of time.

Anyway, I might be more active on Tumblr and post a little more, but don’t worry, I won’t spam you to the point where Tumblr gets error pages, resulting in punched screens (see here).

So yeah, as you may have seen, I’ve changed my plans for the upcoming unboxing. I’ve decided I don’t want the MacBook Air anymore (Oh gosh, now I’m really fussy), and now I’ve decided to come back to the iPad 16GB WiFi+3G.

We’re one third of the way in reaching our goal of $759, and there are hurdles in reaching that goal. Of course, we all have bills to pay, and yet already I have bills. FML. So, I’m hoping to get the iPad on the 17th of November (that’s a Wednesday, I think) and live stream the unboxing a few hours into that afternoon.

Okay, this time, I’m hoping that I will live stream a little better and get a proper stand for my iPod/phone (Yes, both can live stream :)) and being more organized.

So cool! The next unboxing is almost all planned. So far, so good…rem!

Should I or shouldn’t I..?

A few months ago, I bought the HTC Desire. And unfortunately, it hasn’t impressed me enough to actually 'love’ the phone. I mean, I’m playing with my iPod touch 4G more than my HTC Desire!

That made me think, whether I should sell my HTC Desire (more than what I sold my Nokia N97, of course) and grab an iPhone 4.

What do you guys think?
