2010: Reflection

Another 52 weeks have passed really quickly this time ‘round, and boy what a year it has been. I mean, who doesn’t agree with, ‘Time goes fast when you’re having fun’ ?

The year started off pretty.. normal. Well, it was normal because I was only 14 years old at the start of the year. All I remember was it was hot. Really hot. Especially the day when 'Black Saturday’ happened in Victoria, and the days after that. All I could smell outside was smoke from the bushfires.

Took up squash, and quit swimming.
Joined the local gym, Fitness First, where I don’t go anymore. But still paying the fees (because I’m on a one-year contract).
Had fun with life.
Made lots of 'virtual’ friends on Twitter.

Year 10 started, when I was moving from the junior campus (Years 7-9) to the senior campus (Years 10-12, pretty self explanatory, yeah?). And nothing pretty much happened until I was employed at my local Woolworths/Safeway in June. After interviews, signing paperwork, going through group assessments, I was finally in my local supermarket scanning people’s stuff. So much fun. (sarcasm was intended)

Then exams came into the picture, the 1st semester was alright. But still, my parents yelled at me because I didn’t get good enough scores in Maths. Typical. Asian. Parents. Yeah? Second semester was better. This time, my parents didn’t talk to me at all. And then I was surprised because I was getting ready for the worst to happen. But then again, I wonder if that’s a good ting or a bad thing.

September, October, 2010. The AFL Grand Final. Boy what a year it has been for Collingwood. The first Grand Final got my screaming, and at the edge of my seat. The replay, not so much. I just knew they were going to win. Collingwood Premiers 2010!

After huge hours at work (I had 38 hours one week - probably as much as a full time worker) and some other stuff happening, I managed to rack up 41 hours of annual leave. Enough for my trip to Vietnam - which happened from the 3rd of December to 26th December.

The trip to Vietnam was awesome, took lots of photos and had lots of fun. The only problem I had was that I couldn’t speak Vietnamese fluently and I couldn’t speak English to them or else they wouldn’t understand, so I thought, 'What’s the point in speaking anyway?’. So I didn’t speak very much during the trip, and listened to my iPod the whole way through.

Came back from Vietnam, and straight away went to Boxing Day shopping. I was actually pretty surprised that I wasn’t that tired. Maybe because there’s a 4-hour difference between Vietnam and Melbourne.

Came back to work the day after I came back, and I got employed in another department. Bakery. So now I’ll be working in frontend and bakery.

So yeah, as I said, 2010 was a pretty fast year. Especially the second half of the year, and I loved it. I don’t know why everyone’s so depressed of 2010. Are they like this every year? '2009 was crap. I hope 2010 is better’, '2010 was hell, 2011 will be heaven’, '2011 was the shittest year in my life, 2012 will be fantastic’. Oh well, I had an awesome year, and I’ll miss you 2010.
