Procrastinating: Annual leave, unboxings, work & life after 2012

I’m meant to be studying for my Chemistry exam tomorrow, but I’m doing everything else but that right now. So, I’ve decided to type up a blog post on what I've researched for the past, uh, 8 hours. As you may - or not - know, I’m currently on annual leave from work for four weeks, and I’m currently drowning in IOU’s. Currently, I owe about $150 to 6 different people because I’ve borrowed money from them. I made the smart move to buy the Canon EOS 600D with my annual leave pay 3 weeks ago, yeah? No. 4 weeks without having any money at all is not where you want to be, ever. So, now I have to dedicate my whole first pay check since going on holidays owing people. Lovely. I’ve also decided on my next couple of unboxings which will happen in the next couple of months. And I’ve thought of two. The first one, which will happen late July will be the Canon 50mm f/1.8 Mk II, and the second unboxing, which will happen somewhere during September/October, will be the - you guessed it -next-generation Apple iPhone. Whether it’s gonna be 4GS or 5G, it’s gonna be unboxed somewhere around September/October. I’ll keep you updated on my unboxing site. Those are the two main unboxings which are going to happen during the next few months, but it doesn’t mean that’s all I’m buying. Psshht, as if that’s all I’m getting. I’m also getting some batteries & a camera bag for my 600D, and I’m also enrolling for an iOS Developer Account sometime in mid-July. And then after I get the developer account from Apple, I’ll start saving up for the next-generation iPhone. After I buy the iPhone, it would most likely be late-September/late-October, so I’ve gotta start studying for the end-of-year exams. Yeah, again. So yet another four-week annual leave application may be handed in, but I won’t be spending all my annual leave pay so openly next time round, ha. After exams, that’s it. We’ve made it. Halfway through VCE. Units 1 & 2, finished, goodbye. Now, here’s a special announcement I would like to… announce to my special readers. I know, we’re only halfway through the year, but I’ve pretty much decided on what I’m going to do at the start of next year. My parents have pretty much forced me into this, so here goes nothing. After New Year’s Day 2012, and before my birthday (12 January), I may be quitting my job at my local supermarket. Okay, before you go onto Facebook or Twitter to tell me why I may be quitting, I’m gonna list the reasons here for you.

  1. I want to focus in Year 12, and getting a high ATAR score - whatever the hell that is.
  2. My parents are currently struggling - financially, and if I quit my job, they’ll be able to apply for some assistance (payments) from Centrelink.
  3. I’m saving up for a round-the-world trip after Year 12 - which I will talk about next - and I would like to try to save as much of the assistance (payments) as I can from Centrelink.
  4. I NEED A BREAK. Having one day a week (currently), to sleep properly is pretty stupid.
So, there’s the main reasons why I may be quitting my job at the start of next year. Okay, in point numero 3 above, I’ve mentioned that I was saving up for a round-the-world trip after Year 12.Shock horror. In relation to point numero 4 above, I NEED A BREAK. I need a break  from life, from Melbourne, from Australia, from school, from my family… Obviously, I just need a break from everything. So, I am planning a one-year long round-the-world trip when I finish school at the end of 2012. I’ve had a look Student Flights and found a pretty good special where you can visit 11 different places (Auckland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Doha, Singapore, Bali) for only $2,687 (student prices, flights only). That’s totally within my budget of $10,000 which includes accommodation, and food for about 11 months - 1 month per place? And I’m pretty excited. I’m not liking the fact that I’ll be visiting 3 different American cities though, it’s like, I’ve already been to two of them - San Francisco & Los Angeles, and I kinda don’t want to visit those cities again. I’ll be also receiving payments from Centrelink during my around-the-trip because I’ll still be considered a non-working student, which will also add to my budget above. Also, during the course of 2012, and 2013, no unboxings will take place, so my unboxings site may be terminated. After the round-the-world trip, I’ll be back to studying at university like most other people in Earth. Anyway, I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen in the next couple of years, and should be a good one. Thanks for reading, gotta get back to studying. Wish me luck!
