All in a sentence: I hate people who assume, who think they know what they’re doing, and results in making the situation ten times worse!
Okay, now, I left the house at around 2pm today to have a hit at the local squash courts. I only left the house for 2 whole hours, and when I come home, everything just came crashing down - technically.
As you may know, I now have VOIP, and I needed to decide whether to ‘port’ our old number over or make a new number. And so I went with porting our old number over, and tweeted @Optus if I could have a 'Carrier Account Number’ basically a number provided by Optus which allows you to port numbers from one company to the other. They replied me with a link where I entered my name, e-mail, contact number and what I wanted.
A few hours later - when I was at the squash courts - Optus called my home phone, where my oldest sister picked up, and they asked if she wanted to cancel the broadband and home phone. What?! CANCEL THE BROADBAND AND HOME PHONE?! I never even mentioned that both in my tweets and in the online form! Okay, well my oldest sister said, 'Yes. Cancel everything.’ Wait. WHAT?! WHY?! I NEED THE FUCKING INTERNET FOR THE VOIP TO RUN!
So, when I got home, my sister asked me why the internet wasn’t working. And I thought it was a VOIP problem. So I spent an hour trying to fix it. When my parents went home, they told me Optus rang our home phone and told us if we wanted to cancel the service. And my oldest sister said, 'Yes’. Now this is where I started to get really angry.
Got into the living room, to yell at my sister on why she cancelled the broadband and home phone. She said, 'Oh, I thought we hand another broadband service’. WHAT THE FUCK?! YOU ASKED ME WHY THE INTERNET WASNT WORKING AND YOU CLEARLY SAID 'YES’ TO THE OPTUS REP THAT YOU WANTED TO CANCEL EVERYTHING. I NEVER EVEN TOLD YOU TO CANCEL THE HOME PHONE AND BROADBAND. NOR DID I EVEN TELL OPTUS TO.
OH MY FUCKING GOD. FUCK MY FUCKING LIFE.
After NO 'SORRY’S AT ALL, she just sat there thinking that everything would be OK. Which, was. After my older (not oldest - the one that I’m pissed at) sister rang up Optus to get the broadband bank, but not the home phone - since we don’t need that anymore. Now, we have to wait 24-48 hours for the broadband to become activated.
Which lead me in asking, 'Why does it take 2 seconds to de-activate a service, when it takes 24-48 hours tore-activate a service!’
I obviously wanted to punch my oldest sister in the face for doing that. But I also want to punch Optus in the face, for; 1. Not asking the owner of the broadband and home phone service for confirmation, 2. Not listenening carefully on what I actually wanted in the first place.
Now my dad is complaining that we can’t use the home phone because we need the internet for the home phone to work now. Hence the VOIP. So, now, we’re in a house without internet or phone service. And now I’m using my iPad, typing up this rant.
Thanks everyone for listening. That made me feel much better, but not completely. That must be Optus’ and my oldest sisters’ birthday present to me - to piss me off.
If you haven’t noticed, my birthday is tomorrow, and I want to start it off with sleep. Night.
