The Next Chapter: VIII - Youth Left Behind (2011 - 2012)

Finally, 18 memorable years have come to what my liver is about to go through tomorrow. My 18th birthday. The momentum of fun during 2009 and 2010 in my last blog post didn’t slow down one bit during 2011 and 2012.

“The Next Chapter” was a series of eight blog posts which was posted during a period of eight days, reflecting on the first 18 years of my life. Also, building up to the big 18th birthday tomorrow. This is the final of the eight posts.

As I’ve already went through 2011 and 2012 in immense details in their respective reflections, I’ll do a super quick summary of the two amazing years here. You can read 2011 in detail here, and you can read 2012 in detail here.

2011 was a fairly quiet for me. Because I only just scored my first job in mid-2010, I was constantly working during 2011, raking in the cash that suddenly disappeared. Impulsive buying at it’s best! 2011 also marked the beginning of my VCE education, and I met some awesome tweeps.

2012, however, was possibly the biggest year I’ve experienced in my whole entire life. 2012 was where the late nights at the footy, 18th birthday parties, my now late-small business, the pressure from the all important VCE exams, meeting more tweeps and making more memories took over my life.

Reflecting on the first 18 years of my life, it’s truly been a roller coaster. From the strict nature of my parents, to the 8pm homework sessions, the swimming lessons, the karate lessons, the reality checks, the piano lessons, the footy matches, and the alcoholic week (aka schoolies).

I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead of me. 2013 will hopefully mark the beginning of my first year at university. I’m also hoping to go onto my third international trip around Europe during July/August. Now that I don’t have to worry about hiding alcohol without the constant reminder that I’m underage, it’s a great relief that I finally get to turn 18 tomorrow.

Bring on the future.

This marks the end of, “The Next Chapter”. We hope you’ve enjoyed the series!
